  • Tuesday 2nd December marks the UK’s first ever #GivingTuesday, a day to celebrate charitable giving
  • Localgiving offers people in Northern Ireland the chance to triple donations given to Open Arts through its Triple Tenner Tuesday campaign

Belfast based Open Arts, which provides access to the arts for disabled people throughout Northern Ireland, is backing the UK’s first ever #GivingTuesday, offering local residents the chance to triple their donations to the charity through Localgiving’s Triple Tenner Tuesday campaign.

#GivingTuesday, which falls on Tuesday 2nd December, is a global day dedicated to giving back to charities, communities, local businesses, friends and families. Through Localgiving.com, members of the public can give £10 to the Open Arts Community Choir with the chance that their donation will be tripled to £30.

Open Arts will be using the Triple Tenner Tuesday campaign to maximise fundraising on donations made to the group through its websites, Facebook page and Twitter accounts.

Bev McGeown, Musical Director for Open Arts, said, “We’re incredibly excited to be part of #GivingTuesday and hope that the local community will show their generosity and support. We hope that Localgiving’s Triple Tenner Tuesday campaign will help us to maximise the opportunity and raise as much as possible for our fantastic choir.”

As a founding partner of #GivingTuesday, Localgiving will be tripling 1,000 £10 donations made through Localgiving.com on the 2nd of December, in association with the Office for Civil Society.

Stephen Mallinson, Chief Executive of Localgiving said, “We’re committed to raising funding and awareness for local charities, many of which don’t have the resources to run large-scale campaigns to encourage donations. We hope that Triple Tenner Tuesday will enable the Open Arts Community Choir to springboard their fundraising on this global day of giving.”
